How can I speed up my computer at work?

The network here seems to be too slow. Are there any things that I could do to speed things up here on the computer?

    if it is a network problem you can upgrade your system from the classical 10/100 to a faster 1gb network. but this not an individual job, much more administrator installation and configuration.
    now isn’t your PC? wrong configuration, or mistakes can cause a low response… than i will go for Ccleaner at http://www.ccleaner.com (free)
    PS; do not forget the regular window check for error and defragmentation.
    anything else on internet and network? yes adwares, spywares, cookies; those are connecting the internet (on background) via your network… you may check that.
