How do i increase my ram and what do i set it to? Anything else to speed my computer up?

Hi i have had to reboot my computer and i payed a guy £100 for to speed up my computer he told me he added more ram i have lost all of that when i rebooted well i would like to know when i get to the ram part what is the figure i need to put in or is there anything else i can do to make it go faster other than defrag etc thanks

    In Internet Options in General.Click settings and move to148.Click start and right click My Computer.Click properties and in Advanced click the top
    settings and move to(visual effects)Adjust for best performance.Advanced
    you can move the ram number.That is what you paid £100 for.What a waste of money.Click change and increase the number.But write down the
    figure that is set so you can reset if needed.Switch off Remote help and
    System Restore.(If you keep S.Rest on)Click settings and move to 5%.Click start and in run put.msconfig.In start up remove the
    ticks from what you don’t need.Do the same in Services.In General click the
    bottom 2 and the boot.Click selective start up.
